PLANNING APPLICATION HISTORY (Traveller sites only)

Home HOUSING TRAVELLER SITES OBJECTION LETTERS WHAT CAN I DO? SMDC POLICIES MEETINGS PETITION PLANNING HISTORY CORRESPONDENCE CONTACT

Some of the potential traveller sites may have been selected as they have previously had planning applications rejected by the SMDC. It is believed that the land at Mobberley, Werrington, Calverhay, and possibly Quabbs Lane (needs confirmation) have all had planning applications rejected.

See the links below for details on the recent application to build 4 detached houses at Calverhay Farm. Unfortunately this request was rejected, despite being supported by the neighbouring residents!

Planning application 2014        Proposal        Decision notice        Report

Bizarrely, having rejected what could be considered a totally reasonable application to construct the 4 houses at Calverhay for reasons of - "green belt protection, maintaining the barrier from Stoke City boundary and the protection of trees/hedgerows", it would seem that Staffs Moorlands are now considering the possibility of building a traveller site on the same location. Totally out of keeping with the area.

All three proposed sites are within the Green Belt, even though two may appear to be brown field.

The group does not oppose the construction of houses that are done in a sympathetic manner utilising 'in fill' sites, that take due consideration of the local environment and have minimum detrimental impact on the landscape.  We will actively support landowners that wish to utilise brown field sites (or green field sites that operate as, and appear to be brown field sites) for housing, especially if this means that other more attractive or environmentally rich green belt areas are preserved.
